What alternative?

March 1, 2010

For the first time, this dyed in the wool tory is thinking of voting Social Democrat.  Take education for example.  Brown offers academies and the slow, gradual dissolution of the State school system.  What does Cameron’s Britain offer? Ah – almost the same thing, but dressed in different clothes. But according to the Conservatives, religious groups or even groups of parents will be much safer hands than skilled, trained professionals.

Why is there no alternative? Why does no one have the courage to look at what this country really needs? Why not dissolve the private schools and disseminate the expertise throughout the State school system? If there were no private schools, then the large fussy minority would send their children to the local school, and would complain about the shoddy service, the lack of service culture, and the unionised moaning that is the lot of the average State school.  That would get them moving!

Is it just me?
